Video Production in a COVID World: Hiring a COVID-19 Compliance Officer (CCO) for Your Next Shoot

Dealing with COVID-19 over the past seven months has been a challenge for all of us. We are all taking additional and necessary precautions to limit exposure and stay safe… especially when producing video and photo content on location.

There are varying levels of procedures when it comes to on-set safety, but have you or your company considered a COVID-19 Compliance Officer (CCO) for your next shoot?

With the expertise of a CCO, there is no need to worry about the ever changing updates and news on how to proceed with COVID-19. It is their job to implement the safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment to work within.

How does a CCO add value to a production project? They provide health pre-screening of all attendees the day before the shoot, they conduct individual temperature checks upon arrival, they wipe down all high touch points throughout the day, and they help regulate and oversee proper social distancing measures.

In order to alleviate some of today’s added stress, it’s comforting to know there can be a member of the production team specific to health and safety. We’ve had the opportunity to utilize a CCO several times over the past couple of months, and we highly recommend exploring one for your next shoot as well.

Every day on set I like to give my safety speech. It’s a reminder to everyone that we are not only here to collaborate on a project, but to also keep each other safe. Health and safety is everyone’s responsibility and there has to be buy in. We set protocols to follow because we’re not only looking out for the safety of ourselves, but also for our families.
