jack’s story
In partnership with Second Melody and their client Scholar Rock, Copper Hound traveled to Harlingen, Texas to capture the story of Jack, a 9-year-old boy living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Told through the voice of his mom Kristen, we learn about their family’s journey with SMA, from initial diagnosis, to daily treatment plans, their outlook on breakthrough medicines, and their hopes for Jack’s future. We also hear from Jack’s grandfather, as well as see how his grandmother and caregivers provide important, critical support throughout the days.
This powerful story was shared with attendees of the Cure SMA conference in Anaheim, CA in June. It was an honor to help bring Kristen and Jack’s voices to the stage through this video, and to contribute to the important conversations the SMA community is having every day.
“We’ve seen him little by little improve, and it’s okay if it’s a very, very low gradual improvement. It’s improvement. And that means maybe, not what’s he going to do next year, but what’s he going to do in five years? What’s he going to do in 10 years?”
